No. 60 DePaul Travels to Illinois and Iowa

CHICAGO The No. 60 DePaul women’s tennis team returns to the court this weekend with road duals at Illinois and No. 46 Iowa. The Blue Demons face the Illini on Friday in Champaign, Illinois before challenging the Hawkeyes on Sunday in Iowa City, Iowa. Friday’s action opens at 6 p.m. (CST), while Sunday’s first serve is set for noon.
DePaul (5-1) earned a pair of road victories last weekend in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Blue Demons swept Ball State, 7-0, on Saturday before they topped No. 66 Western Michigan, 6-1, on Sunday. DePaul’s only loss of the season came on January 26 when the Blue Demons dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 47 Denver.
Illinios (2-3) enters Friday’s dual on a three-match losing streak against ranked opponents. The Illini suffered a 4-3 loss to then No. 62 Western Michigan on January 21 before they lost, 6-1, to No. 22 Tennessee on January 26 and were swept, 7-0, by No. 21 Florida State on February 3. Iowa opens its dual campaign on Friday with a match against BIG EAST Conference squad Marquette.
Through six DePaul matches, junior Dunja Antunovic carries a 4-2 record at No. 1 singles, while senior Gergana Ganeva holds a 4-2 record in the No. 2 spot. Freshman Selma Salkovic is 5-1 in dual singles play with a 3-0 record at No. 3. Senior Beatrix Csordas and Salkovic are a perfect 6-0 when paired in doubles competition.
DePaul lost its last meetings with Iowa and Illinois. The Blue Demons suffered a 6-1 road loss to the Hawkeyes during the 2007 season and a 7-0 road loss to the Illini in 2004.
