CHICAGO - The accolades keep rolling in for DePaul forward Steffen Vroom.
The high-scoring senior was named to Soccer America's national Team of the Week on Tuesday, one day after being honored as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week.
Vroom is being recognized after scoring the game-winning goal in a 2-1 overtime victory at Cincinnati last Wednesday followed by the game-winner in last Saturday's 1-0 decision over Rutgers at Wish Field.
DePaul's leading scorer with six goals and 13 points has actually scored the game-winner in his team's last three victories. On Sept. 25, Vroom scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory at Pittsburgh.
Vroom's clutch play has helped lead the Blue Demons to second place in the BIG EAST's Red Division with 12 points. Louisville, ranked No. 7 in the nation by Soccer America, is on top with 16 points.
This is the second time this season Vroom is being honored by Soccer America.
After leading DePaul to upsets over then-No. 9 Northwestern on Sept. 7 and then-No. 8 UC-Irvine on Sept. 11, Soccer America named Vroom as its national Player of the Week.
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America also bestowed that honor on Vroom after he scored the first goal in three matches that week and wound up with seven points. That same week, Vroom was named Most Valuable Player of the Marquette Invitational.
DePaul (7-5-0, 4-3-0 in the BIG EAST) is on the road this week with a 7 p.m. match Wednesday at Loyola-Chicago and a noon match Saturday at Villanova. The Blue Demons play five of their final six games away from Wish Field.
