Sammy Geiger dished out 13 assists while Katherine Knutson and Christy Landschoot each tallied eight digs.
Unable to find an offensive rhythm in the first set, DePaul tallied eight kills, but attack errors hindered the momentum as the Blue Demons hit .069 in the frame. Carney and Cullen were able to tag down three kills apiece before Marquette took the game one victory, 25-13.
The Blue Demon offense continued to struggle, as the Golden Eagles limited DePaul to just five kills in the second stanza. Aumann terminated the ball three times with no attack errors, while Kate Letcher also finished the frame errorless and tallied two kills on four attempts. Marquette continued to dominate offensively, and earned the 25-10 win going into break after tacking down 16 kills with only a trio of errors.
Down two games, DePaul regrouped and improved its hitting percentage to .167 as five Blue Demons recorded nine kills in the frame. Letcher paced the floor with a .286 hitting percentage, while Cullen had three put downs. The Golden Eagles kept DePaul at bay, however, and drilled down a staggering 18 kills on a .552 clip. Led by Beyer's floor-best six kills, Marquette took the final set, 25-12.
The Blue Demons return to McGrath Arena for the final weekend of the 2009 season beginning on Friday, Nov. 13 when they lead off the volleyball/women's basketball doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. (CST) against USF.
