CHICAGO The No. 41-ranked DePaul women’s tennis team travels to No. 75 Iowa on Friday, February 20 to face the Hawkeyes at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreational Center. The Blue Demons remain in Iowa City to face Kansas on Saturday morning.
After a pair of wins last weekend, the team was awarded the highest ranking in program history from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). After defeating Butler on Friday, 7-0, the Blue Demons claimed a come-from-behind victory on Saturday against then-No. 30 Indiana.
Anna Redecsi and Selma Salkovic improved to 10-1 as a doubles tandem with their pair of wins last weekend. Their triumph against the Hoosiers was not enough to clinch the team victory, however, and it took singles wins from Dunja Antunovic, Redecsi, Gia McKnight, and Katarina Milinkovic to put the match away.
DePaul (8-2) first faces Iowa (4-4) at 3 p.m. (CST) Although the Hawkeyes are currently on a two-match losing streak, the teams has earned hard-fought victories from BIG EAST Conference rivals Marquette and then-No. 43 Louisville. On Saturday morning, at 10 a.m., the Blue Demons compete against Kansas in a neutral court dual. The Jayhawks (4-1) have suffered their only loss of the season to then-No. 35 Illinois.
This weekend marks the end of a six-match road stretch. They return to their home courts at the Lakeshore Athletic Center next weekend, February 28, to face conference rival Connecticut.
