DePaul Set to Play Chicago State

CHICAGO- The DePaul volleyball team plays Chicago State on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Blue Demons lead the all-time series 11-0 and last defeated Chicago State 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-15) in the 2008 season.
The Blue Demons defeated SIU-Edwardsville in their last match 3-1 (25-18, 20-25, 25-19, 25-18). The victory ended at 12 match losing streak. In the match, against the cougars, senior Kate Letcher led the Blue Demons with a .400 (6-0-15) attack percentage and Katherine Knutson continued to provided great defensive support with 24 digs.
DePaul returns to BIG EAST play this weekend with a pair of matches at McGrath Arena. On Saturday, the Blue Demons will square off against Marquette at 2 p.m. and then 24 hours later the Blue Demons are slated to play Syracuse.
DePaul vs. Chicago State
Chicago State enters the weekend with a 0-22 overall record and a 0-7 record in the Great West Conference… the Blue Demons lead the all-time series with an 11-0 record… in 2008, DePaul defeated Chicago State 3-0 (25-15, 25-13,25-15).
Double Digit Digs
Katherine Knutson has had double digit digs in 16 matches this season… she leads the team and is currently ranked seventh in the BIG EAST with 4.25 digs per set… in BIG EAST Matches she averages 4.67 digs per set which is third in the Conference… recorded 24 digs in the match against SIU-Edwardsville.
Defensively Strong
DePaul is currently fourth in the BIG EAST averaging 15.11 digs per set… in BIG EAST matches DePaul is seventh averaging 13.44 digs per set… DePaul totaled 113 digs in the match against Georgia State which is the second most in the BIG EAST… Chelsea Thurlby totaled 33 digs against Georgia State which is the second most any athlete has had this season in the BIG EAST.
Freshman Standout
Freshman Chelsea Kirkpatrick had been in double digit kills eight times this season and leads the team with 2.32 kills per set.
Senior Leadership
Senior Kate Letcher provided leadership and had a season high .400 (6-0-15) attack percentage in the win over SIU-Edwardsville.
