Blue Demons release a stacked slate for 2026 season
CHICAGO – DePaul Volleyball has announced its full 2026 slate, featuring a pair of marquee matchups against Big 10 opponents in Chicago. The Blue Demons schedule includes six opponents who qualified for the 2025 NCAA Championships, including three out of the BIG EAST.
"We built this schedule to reflect exactly who we believe DePaul Volleyball and DePaul Athletics are becoming," said head coach Marie Zidek. "The BIG EAST has grown into one of the top volleyball conferences in the country, and we're ready to meet that challenge head-on. As a program, a department and University, we want to put ourselves in the middle of meaningful competition. We're excited to do that and we know the support of our campus and our local community will be a big part of it."
The schedule features a total of 16 home games – 15 of which will occur at McGrath-Phillips Arena and highlighted by a historic contest against Nebraska on Friday, Sept. 4 at Wintrust Arena. Match times are subject to change and television designations will be announced at a later date.
DePaul opens its season with a pair of exhibition contests at Northern Illinois and home against Iowa, Aug. 15 and Aug. 22, respectively. The season then opens on the road for DePaul in Des Moines, Iowa against Milwaukee on Friday, Aug. 28. The weekend tournament concludes with a pair of matches against Drake and South Dakota, Aug. 29 and Aug. 30.
The Blue Demons home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 2 against Portland State, before making the trip to the South Loop for a matchup against 2025 Big Ten Champion Nebraska. The matchup in Wintrust Arena will be the first meeting between the two programs in over four decades and the first collegiate volleyball match at the downtown venue. DePaul concludes Labor Day weekend on Monday, Sept. 7, hosting 2024 National Champion Penn State at McGrath-Phillips Arena.
DePaul continues its non-conference action with a home weekend Sept. 11-13, hosting Central Michigan, Western Michigan and Auburn. The Chicago Cup then returns with matches against Loyola Chicago on Sept. 18 and UIC on Sept. 19.
BIG EAST play begins Friday, Sept. 25 as DePaul travels to Providence. The weekend concludes with a matchup at UConn on Saturday, Sept. 26 before the Blue Demons host Marquette at home on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
October opens with a road trip to 2025 BIG EAST Champion, Creighton, on Friday, Oct. 2. A return to McGrath-Phillips Arena features matches against Villanova on Friday, Oct. 9 and Georgetown on Oct. 10. DePaul then heads east for matches at Seton Hall and St. John's, Oct. 16 and Oct. 18, respectively. Xavier visits Chicago on Oct. 24 before Butler comes to town on Oct. 25.
A short trip to Milwaukee awaits on Wednesday, Oct. 28 before DePaul hosts Creighton on Halloween at McGrath-Phillips. The Blue Demons' final road weekend of the regular season comes Nov. 6 at Georgetown and Nov. 7 at Villanova. Conference play concludes with home matches against St. John's on Nov. 13 and Seton Hall on Nov. 14.
