
DePaul Hosts a Pair of BIG EAST Matches

CHICAGO- The DePaul volleyball team (3-19, 0-7 BIG EAST) hosts a pair of BIG EAST Conference matches this upcoming weekend. On Saturday at 1 p.m. the Blue Demons will face Marquette (13-7, 4-2 BIG EAST) and then on Sunday will square off against Syracuse (21-3, 3-3 BIG EAST) at 2 p.m.
In its last match, DePaul defeated Chicago State 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-14). In the match, against Chicago State, Kate Letcher and Rachel Aumann led the Blue Demons offensively, each totaling 10 kills while Katherine Knutson was the defensive leader totaling 14 digs.
DePaul's next match will be Tuesday, Oct. 26 at UW-Milwaukee. The Blue Demons return to BIG EAST play next weekend with a pair of home matches against Connecticut and St. Johns.
DePaul vs. Marquette
Marquette enters the weekend with a 13-7 overall record and a 4-2 in the BIG EAST... DePaul leads the all-time series 28-18... in the 2009 season Marquette defeated DePaul 3-0.
DePaul vs. Syracuse
Syracuse enters the weekend with a 21-3 overall record and a 3-3 in the BIG EAST... Syracuse leads the all-time series 5-1... in the 2009 season Syracuse defeated DePaul in straight sets.
Double Digit Digs
Katherine Knutson has had double digit digs in 18 matches this season... she leads the team and is currently ranked eighth in the BIG EAST with 4.27 digs per set... in BIG EAST Matches she averages 4.67 digs per set which is third in the Conference... recorded 14 digs in the match against Chicago State.
Defensively Strong
DePaul is currently fourth in the BIG EAST averaging 15.18 digs per set... in BIG EAST matches DePaul is seventh averaging 13.44 digs per set... DePaul totaled 113 digs in the match against Georgia State which is the second most in the BIG EAST... Chelsea Thurlby totaled 33 digs against Georgia State which is the second most any athlete has had this season in the BIG EAST.
Offensive Standouts
DePaul had a season-high .366 team attack percentage in its last match... Kate Letcher and Rachel Aumann led the team with 10 kills and Kyndell Highland's attack percentage of .500 was a season high.
