CHICAGO- The Blue Demons finish up the 2010-11 regular season this weekend. The DePaul volleyball team plays at Seton Hall on Saturday at 1 p.m. and then plays at Rutgers on Sunday.
The Blue Demons fell 3-1 in their last match against Villanova. In the match against Villanova, Molly Creek led the Blue Demons offensively with a .438 (9-2-16) attack percentage and Katherine Knutson contributed 23 digs.
DePaul vs. Seton Hall
Seton Hall enters the weekend with a 12-16 overall record and a 6-6 record in the BIG EAST... the Blue Demons trail in the all-time series with a 0-5 record... last season, Seton Hall defeated DePaul 3-2.
DePaul vs. Rutgers
Rutgers enters the weekend with a 10-16 overall record and a 2-10 record in the BIG EAST... the all-time series is tied at 3... last season, Rutgers defeated DePaul 3-1.
Double Digit Digs
Katherine Knutson has had double digit digs in 23 matches this season... she leads the team and is currently ranked sixth in the BIG EAST with 4.28 digs per set...recorded 23 digs in the match against Villanova.
Defensively Strong
DePaul is currently fourth in the BIG EAST averaging 15.35 digs per set... DePaul is currently seventh in the BIG EAST averaging 1.96 blocks per set... DePaul totaled 113 digs in the match against Georgia State which is the second most in the BIG EAST... Chelsea Thurlby totaled 33 digs against Georgia State which is the second most any athlete has had this season in the BIG EAST… Molly Creek totaled 9 blocks in the match against St. John's which is tied for fourth most in a BIG EAST match.
Freshman Standout
Freshman Chelsea Kirkpatrick had been in double digit kills 12 times this season and leads the team with 2.40 kills per set.
