PERPIGNAN, France -- It was a hot day in France, but that did not stop the DePaul women's basketball team from running on all cylinders and defeating Perpignan 93-61 on Friday. The Blue Demons improve to 3-0 on their France trip, while they are averaging 82 points per contest.
Playing in a gym with no air conditioning, the Blue Demons did not take long to heat up from the field as both Keisha Hampton and Anna Martin finished with a blistering 24 points. The Blue Demons led by as many as 23 points in the first half and took a 48-32 lead to the locker room at intermission.
Playing in an extremely hot gym, Blue Demon head coach Doug Bruno used every available player and came at Perpignan from all angles. DePaul's tenacious defense confused a very athletic and quick Perpignan team which never found its rhythm offensively.
Katherine Harry led DePaul on the glass for the second consecutive game as the sophomore grabbed 10 rebounds. Taylor Pikes and Hampton each added eight boards while Maureen Mulchrone grabbed seven.
The Blue Demons received tremendous guard play from Sam Quigley and China Threatt. The pair dished out a combined eight assists while Quigley is averaging 5.0 assists per game while in France.
DePaul closes out its trip on with an 11 a.m. (CST) game on Monday against Cavigal Nice.
