DePaul Draws No. 5/2 Connecticut in BIG EAST Playoffs

CHICAGO - DePaul will take on No. 5/2 Connecticut (14-2-2) Wednesday at Storrs, Conn. in the first round of the BIG EAST Championship tournament.
UConn's 1-0 loss to Seton Hall Sunday night dropped the Huskies into third place in the BIG EAST Blue Division. DePaul (6-10-2) finished as the No. 6 seed in the Red Division.
DePaul defeated Syracuse 2-1 Saturday at Wish Field to clinch the final Red Division playoff spot and finish with a 3-5-1 record in the BIG EAST.
It is the sixth year in a row the Blue Demons have qualified for the BIG EAST playoffs. Connecticut wound up with a 5-2-2 conference record.
DePaul is 2-1-0 against the Huskies since entering the BIG EAST Conference in 2005. The Blue Demons fell 2-0 at No. 9 Connecticut last year in the first round of the playoffs.
In 2008, DePaul upset No. 17/16 Connecticut on the road in the BIG EAST playoffs and went on to qualify for the BIG EAST Final Four.
In 2007, the Blue Demons pulled off a stunning 1-0 upset of No. 2 Connecticut at Wish Field.
