Melvin Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Again

CHICAGO - For the second time this season, DePaul sophomore forward Cleveland Melvin was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. He was also named to the five-member list by the league office on Nov. 28.
Melvin averaged a team-best 21.3 points per game in DePaul's three games against Milwaukee, Loyola-Chicago and Chicago State while pulling down 6.7 rebounds per game. The Baltimore native also went 6-of-13 (462) from three-point range during the week.
He opened the week with 27 points and three rebounds against Milwaukee. Despite scoring just seven points at Loyola on Wednesday, Melvin added nine rebounds, two assists, a blocked shot and a steal against the Ramblers. The 2011 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year concluded the week of action with a career-high 30 points along with eight rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal against Chicago State.
Melvin was joined on the weekly honor roll by Louisville's Gorgui Deng, Marquette's Jae Crowder, Notre Dame's Jack Cooley and Herb Pope of Seton Hall. Darryl Bryant of West Virginia was the league's Player of the Week and Providence's LaDontae Henton was the Rookie of the Week.
During his rookie season a year ago, Melvin was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week four times en route to being named the league's Rookie of the Year.
The Blue Demons play at Northern Illinois on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. before hosting Arkansas-Pine Bluff at McGrath-Phillips Arena on Saturday night. Saturday's start time is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Lincoln Park.
