Chicagoland Championship Results
CHICAGO- The DePaul men's and women's track and field teams finished split squad action Saturday. Half of the squad competed at the Sun Angel Track Classic and the other half competed at the Chicagoland Championships.
Chris Miedema and Toni Salvatore each ran great races at the last day of the Sun Angel Track Classic. Salvatore represented the women in 1500m run and came in first with a time of 4:33.18, while Miedema ran the 1500m in a time of 4:00.48 to finish in 12th.
Also representing the Blue Demons in Tempe, Ariz., Mary Cate Quiett ran a season-best time of 2:07.70 in the 800m to finish is fifth.
Tim Nedow and Ryan Asta represented the Blue Demons in the Discus at the Sun Angel Track Classic. Nedow finished in first with a throw of 53.47m and Asta finished in 14th with a distance of 46.27m.
At the final fay of the Chicagoland Championships, Ian Sanchez and Zack Gaskell were the top finishers for the Blue Demons. Sanchez finished sixth in the 800m with a time of 1:56.89 and Zach Gaskell finished in fifth in the High Jump with a leap of 1.86m.
Luke Rygh and Tyler Schmitt also represented DePaul at the Chicagoland Championships. Both ran in the 1500m run, Schmitt finished in 11th with a time of 4:01.10 and Rygh finished in 15th with a time of 4:02.27.
Yesterday, DePaul also had student-athletes competing at the Mesa Track and Field Classic. Quiett ran a personal-best time of 56.35 in the 400m dash to finish in fifth. Edward McDaniel, in his first collegiate 1500m run, came in second with a time of 4:04.76.
The Blue Demons host the DePaul Invitational next Saturday.
