DePaul Continues BIG EAST Action

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Up against its fourth nationally-ranked opponent in as many matches, the DePaul men's soccer team hopes to get back on track on Wednesday evening against Louisville at Cardinal Park. DePaul then returns home for a Saturday afternoon conference matchup against Villanova.
The Blue Demons are coming off a 2-0 defeat at the hands of then No. 15/19 Saint John's on Saturday afternoon. Despite some extraordinary second-half goalkeeping by junior keeper Eric Sorby, the Blue Demons couldn't muster up enough offense to overtake their BIG EAST foe.
Prior to Saturday's match, however, DePaul had taken down then-No. 18 Northwestern in a road contest on Wednesday. It was the Wildcats' first regular season loss since falling to the Blue Demons in September of 2011.
With last Wednesday's win over NU, DePaul has successfully defeated each of the Chicagoland-area squads this season. In addition to Northwestern, DePaul had compiled victories over Loyola and UIC earlier in the season.
The Blue Demons' offense is now led by senior and Preseason All-BIG EAST Team selection Antonio Aguilar. The midfielder has four goals on the season-including two against Northwestern.
Behind Aguilar, sophomore Thiago Ganancio has registered three goals for DePaul while Sorby has played in every minute of the 2012 season.
Louisville is coming off a 2-1 BIG EAST loss to Rutgers on Sunday. Before that, however, the Cardinals downed then-No. 4 Notre Dame to open BIG EAST action to hand the Fighting Irish their first loss. Villanova opened BIG EAST play last weekend when it hosted No. 13 USF. In that match, the Wildcats drew 1-1 with the perennial conference powerhouse.
