NEW YORK - After hitting a season-best .647 at Marquette on Saturday, senior middle Natalie Rizzo was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second time this season on Monday.
The award marked the fifth time a Blue Demon has made the honor roll during the 2013 season, and the seventh time in eight weeks volleyball has been recognized by the conference for its standout play.
Rizzo, who also earned honor roll accolades on Sept. 16, was the team's steadiest player this week, putting together a .426 hitting percentage and 23 kills over both matches with just three errors.
Against Marquette, the Lombard, Ill.-native hit a season-high .647 and played errorless volleyball (11-0-17). She added 12 kills on a .300 hitting percentage versus Green Bay.
As a team, DePaul split its matches this week defeating Green Bay 3-2 on Tuesday night before dropping a road match to Marquette on Saturday. The win over Green Bay capped the non-conference portion of the Blue Demons' schedule, which team finished unblemished at 14-0.
Next up for the Blue Demons will be a home match on Friday, Oct. 25 against Georgetown at 12:00 p.m. CT. It will be the first of an action-packed weekend, as the team hosts three BIG EAST opponents in three days.
On Saturday, DePaul faces Creighton at 2:30 p.m. CT before wrapping up the weekend with a 3:00 p.m. CT match against Villanova on Sunday.
