CHICAGO - After capping off the season with a memorable victory over BIG EAST Conference champion and nationally ranked Marquette, the Blue Demons received an accolade Thursday from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
DePaul men's soccer was honored with the NSCAA Team Academic Award after compiling a team grade-point average of 3.39 during the 2012-13 academic year.
Out of the 269 colleges honored, DePaul's team GPA finished in a tie for No. 17 in the country. Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. led the nation with a 3.78 mark.
This was the sixth consecutive year the Blue Demons have earned an NSCAA Team Academic Award. The only BIG EAST school with a higher team GPA was Xavier at 3.44.
Each year, the NSCAA recognizes men's collegiate soccer programs nationwide that record a 3.0 team grade-point average or higher.
Eric Sorby culminated his career with a sensational finish, spending most of his senior season among the top five goalkeepers in the nation in total saves and rising as high as No. 2.
He was also selected BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week in September after back-to-back shutouts of Drake and SIU-Edwardsville.
