CHICAGO -- The 2013-14 track and field season moves forward on Friday afternoon for DePaul as the Blue Demons travel to Bloomington, Ind., for the Indiana University Relays.
The two-day event begins tomorrow (Jan. 31) at 3 p.m. EST.
The relays will be the first two-day and fifth overall competition for DePaul. Athletes representing over 20 schools will be participating.
The Blue Demons are coming off a good performance at the Wisconsin Elite Invitational on Jan. 25, which saw 12 DePaul individuals and relay teams place in the top-five of an event. Sophomore Tayler Whittler broke the DePaul 60-meter record for the third time this season, posting a time of 7.59 seconds last week.
Whittler and fellow Blue Demons Julie Dambra, Ayesha Ewing and Erin McCoy also took second in the women's 4x400-meter relay, while the men's 4x4 team of Tonderai Tomu, Brandon Threats, Xavier Jones and Mac Melto also placed second for DePaul.
The Indiana Relays mark the second-to-last event before the BIG EAST Indoor Championships on Feb. 21-22. Next week, DePaul competes at the Meyo Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind.
