
DePaul Welcomes Xavier, Butler for Weekend Tilts

The Blue Demons suffered two losses last week at Creighton and Georgetown. DePaul was swept by Creighton but managed to keep things interesting versus Georgetown. The Blue Demons and Hoyas dueled for five sets which ended in a Georgetown victory, 3-2.
Double-doubles went in abundance for DePaul on the road trip last weekend. Colleen Smith picked up her seventh of the season with a performance of 52 assists and 15 digs at Georgetown.
Saige Gallop notched her second career double-double with 20 kills and 11 digs versus the Hoyas. Gallop paced the DePaul attack with 31 kills over the two-match span.
Callie Huebener recorded her first double-double of the season in a BIG EAST match against Georgetown with 17 kills and 11 digs.
Defensive specialist Lexi Chanos had her best weekend of the season, tallying 40 digs throughout the weekend. Chanos set a new career-high with 23 digs at Georgetown.
Following its two matches this weekend, DePaul remains at home for tangles with Providence and St. John's. The Blue Demons conclude their longest stretch of matches at home versus the Friars on Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. and against the Red Storm the subsequent evening at 7 p.m.

The Blue Demons and Musketeers have faced each other 14 times in program history and three times as members of the BIG EAST. Xavier has won all conference matchups and holds a 10-4 edge in the series. Butler has fared well against DePaul, having won 11 of the last 18 meetings. Xavier comes into the weekend with in a fight for a berth in the BIG EAST Championship. With only seven matches remaining, the Musketeers are just a game out of a spot in the tournament. Alex Blair (.351), Aubree Smith (.329) and Sofia Peterson (.288) all rank in the top-10 among the BIG EAST. Jesse Earl posts a team-high 4.4 digs per set and ranks fifth in the conference. As a team, Xavier sits in second in the BIG EAST with 1.39 aces per set.

Butler travels to Chicago as one of the hottest teams in the conference, riding a five-match winning streak. The Bulldogs currently rank second in the BIG EAST in kills (13.87 per set), assists (12.64) and blocks (2.92). Kayla Bivins has been a menace at the net, posting a league-high 1.42 blocks per set.
