Volleyball Completes Annual Preseason Scrimmage

CHICAGO - The DePaul volleyball team got in some preseason work during its annual preseason intrasquad scrimmage on Sunday, August 24 inside McGrath-Phillips Arena. In the three-set match, the Blue team defeated the White squad 2-1 (25-15, 24-26, 28-26).
Newcomers made their mark for the Blue Demons, as junior Saige Gallop and freshman Rachel Breault led the attack with nine kills for their respective squads. At the net, Breault notched four block assists. Fellow newcomer, freshman Kelsey Horvath, tallied 27 assists and had two kills. Freshman Myah Reed added 13 digs.
Junior Colleen Smith had an effiecient match as she totaled 30 assists, nine digs and four kills for the Blue team. Classmate Callie Huebener added 10 kills and nine digs.
The Blue Demons will continue their preseason training through the week before hosting the annual DePaul Invitational Aug. 29-30. The four-team tournament will feature six matches in two days, including the DePaul's season opener against Stony Brook at 7 p.m.
