Zidek to Lead USA Volleyball U17 National Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – DePaul volleyball head coach Marie Zidek has been tabbed as one of the head coaches for USA Volleyball's U17 National Team, representing the United States on a global stage. Zidek will lead the U17 Pan American Cup team, marking the program's first-ever participation in the event.
Last summer, Zidek led the U23 National Team to gold at the NORCECA U23 Pan American Cup. She is joined on this year's staff by assistant coaches Heather Olmstead and Baylor's Joshua Walker ,in addition to performance analyst Joe Skinner from Texas A&M.
"This summer, USAV is making history as we head into our first GU17 Pan American Cup and our inaugural participation in the U17 World Championship," said Zidek in USA Volleyball's release. "My staff and I are excited for this unique program opportunity, and we will strive to develop a strong team game that continues to represent USA Volleyball with competitive pride."
The Pan American Cup is scheduled for May 24–June 1 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The U.S. will be in a pool with Canada, Mexico and Venezuela. Athletes will participate in a training block May 17–23 at Rice University in Houston, Texas.
Zidek has committed her career to the development of volleyball athletes at all levels. Entering her eighth season at the helm of the Blue Demons this fall, she has also coached across the country at youth camps and clinics, including the past 15 years with the USA Volleyball National Team Development Program. She currently serves on the American Volleyball Coaches Association Board as the Division I Representative.
