Blue Demons Open Season with 6-1 Win Over UIC

CHICAGO -- The DePaul men's tennis team opened up its 2015 season with a convincing 6-1 victory over crosstown rival UIC on Saturday afternoon in Chicago.
With the win, the Blue Demons start the year 1-0, while UIC begins 0-1.
DePaul got the day started with two doubles victories to secure the point and 1-0 lead. Sten Leusink and Kyle Johnson, the nation's No. 56 doubles tandem, beat UIC's Maurizio Feoli, 6-4, in the No. 2 spot and Nathan de Veer and Alex Galoustian defeated Mitch Granger and Christopher Cole, 6-2, at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Leusink won at No. 1 singles, beating Isaac Lloveras, 7-5, 6-2, and de Veer secured the No. 2 singles win by virtue of a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Louis Theodor.
In the No. 3 singles spot, Johnson beat Cole, 6-4, 6-3, and David Vieyra outlasted Feoli in the No. 4 match, 6-7, 7-5, 10-5. Galoustian also won on Saturday, beating Granger, 6-1, 6-2, in the No. 5 match.
DePaul's next match is on Jan. 23 at home against the University of Chicago.
