Women's Tennis Caps Weekend With Seven Victories

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The 46th-ranked DePaul women's tennis team completed its final tune-up before the dual season on Sunday afternoon at the Purdue Invitational.
The Blue Demons won two doubles matches and five singles contests to cap the weekend.
DePaul won its doubles matches over Drake opponents today in West Lafayette. Jasmin Kling and Patricia Fargas beat Tess Herder and Mariel Ante, 6-0, and Yuliya Shupenia teammed with Jarret Fisher to down Jordan Eggleston and Summer Brills, 6-4.
Facing opponents from the University of Denver in their singles matches, the Blue Demons managed to rattle off 5-of-6 matches to wrap up the weekend.
Fargas beat Gracia Mboko, 7-6 (3), 6-0 and Ana Vladutu handled Evy Van Genechten, 6-1, 6-0. Kling had no trouble with Sonja Radosevic, winning her match, 6-2, 6-1, and Shupenia defeated Julia O'Loughlin, 6-4, 6-4. Finally, Rebeca Mitrea beat Charlotte Derbyshire, 6-3, 6-4.
DePaul next hits the hard court on Saturday (Jan. 24) against No. 22 Texas. Match time from Nashville, Tenn., is scheduled for 2 p.m.
