
DePaul Hosts Marquette in Saturday BIG EAST Match

CHICAGO - In the lone match of the weekend, the DePaul volleyball team meets Marquette for 7 p.m. start on Saturday, October 31 in McGrath-Phillips Arena. The Blue Demons take part in the fifth home match of an eight-match homestand this weekend.
Jasmine King has enjoyed BIG EAST play for the Blue Demons. Through 38 sets, King carries a team-best 42 blocks, including five solo stops against conference opponents.
Brittany Maxwell continues to lead the Blue Demons in kills with a total of 123 in BIG EAST matches over 304 total attacks. The freshman adds 37 blocks and seven service aces this year in conference matches.
Colleen Smith eclipsed 400 assists in BIG EAST play last weekend and moved into fifth all-time for DePaul career assists in Saturday's match against Seton Hall. Smith has 805 assists this year and needs just 16 to tie for fourth all-time.
In BIG EAST matches, DePaul holds advantages in total blocks, 102.0-89.0, and service aces, 67-53. The Blue Demons lead the BIG EAST in service aces per set with an average of 1.49.

Last Time vs. Marquette
The Blue Demons met Marquette on the road for the second BIG EAST match of the season for both teams on Sept. 26. The Golden Eagles defeated DePaul in straight sets. Callie Huebener tallied a team-best 10 kills in Saturday's match and was one dig away from recording a double-double. Randi Leath and Saige Gallop produced seven kills each. On defense, Leath added three blocks and two digs to her night. Haley Bueser led DePaul with 11 digs. Marquette's Joy Miley and Taylor Louis finished the night tied for a match-best 11 kills each.
Scouting The Golden Eagles
Marquette enters the weekend with a 17-7 overall record and an 8-3 BIG EAST match record. The
Golden Eagles sit in third for the conference standings behind undefeated Creighton and 9-2
Villanova. Marquette has won its last five matches and have outscored the opposition 15-2 in those
five matches. Freshman Taylor Louis leads the Golden Eagles with a 5.05 kills per set average
and is tops in the BIG EAST. She also ranks fourth in the nation in the same stat category. Louis has 200 digs and 47 total blocks to add to her first year. Sara Blasier helps to set the attack with 846 assists and a 10.58 assists per set average. Lauren Houg sits in first for digs per set in the BIG EAST with an average of 5.15. She ranks 18th among all NCAA D-I student-athletes. As a team, Marquette is first in the BIG EAST for digs per set, team digs and team total attacks.
