CHICAGO - Callie Huebener of DePaul volleyball was named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll after helping the Blue Demons to wins over UIC and Georgetown, announced Tuesday morning by the conference office. This is the second weekly honor roll spot for Huebener this year and fifth this season for DePaul.
Huebener led the Blue Demons in the 2-1 week with 33 kills and 3.30 kills/set, 1.12 more than her season average. The senior outside hitter finished the week with a .280 hitting percentage.
"I have been really impressed with Callie's overall play over the past few matches," said head coach Nadia Edwards. "Her contributions offensively, defensively and from the service line helped us to secure wins over UIC and Georgetown."
The senior tallied a match-high 12 kills in a three-set win over crosstown rival UIC and added eight digs. To open the weekend, Huebener guided the Blue Demons to a straight-set win over Georgetown with 12 kills, five blocks and four digs. Huebener ended the week with nine kills, five digs and two service aces versus Creighton.
"She is really showing the leadership and confidence of a senior and I hope that she continues to play at that level for the last four matches of her career," stated Edwards.
Huebener and the Blue Demons return to action this weekend as they face Providence and St. John's on the road. The Saturday and Sunday matches are both set for a 1 p.m. CT start.
