BIG EAST Honors Babicz for Third Time

NEW YORK -- Senior Matt Babicz was named the BIG EAST Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this season, the conference announced late Wednesday evening.
He also earned the award on Dec. 9 and Jan. 27.
On Friday at the Hoosier Hills Invitational, Babicz won the shot put event for the sixth time in as many meets this year, posting a best throw of 19.03 meters. He out-threw the second place finisher by 1.80 meters; his mark of 19.03 meters ranks second in the BIG EAST to only himself (19.33 meters). His throw of 19.33 meters ranks 15th nationally, while his 19.03 mark is 24th in the country.
Next up for Babicz and the Blue Demons are the 2015 BIG EAST Championships (Feb. 28-March 1), where the senior will be looking to repeat as shot put conference champion.
