DePaul Falls at Georgetown

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Forrest Robinson knocked down five three-pointers off the bench, but it wasn't enough as the Blue Demons came up just short at Georgetown on Saturday night. The Hoyas held off the Blue Demons in a 68-63 decision at Verizon Center. Robinson led the Blue Demons with 17 points.
A back-and-forth first half saw DePaul take an early 14-9 lead before Georgetown went on a 7-0 run. Jamee Crockett ended the Hoya run with three to make the score 19-16 in favor of Georgetown midway through the opening frame.
Georgetown (18-8, 10-5 BIG EAST) tied to put the game away and led by nine with four minutes left the first half. DePaul closed the half with an 8-2 run and trailed 30-27 heading into intermission. Crockett led the Blue Demons in the first half with 10 points as the score was tied six times and the lead changed on five occasions.
The Hoyas led the entire second half, but DePaul made it interesting and Georgetown couldn't put the Blue Demons away. Georgetown took its largest lead of the night just under five minutes into the second half on a three-point play by Joshua Smith.
Over the next nine minutes, DePaul (12-16, 6-9 BIG EAST) outscored Georgetown by a 20-11 margin. Robinson's fourth three of the night trimmed the deficit to two at 54-52 with 6:27 on the clock.
Following two Georgetown free throws, Robinson struck again from long range to pull DePaul within a point, but the Blue Demons would get no closer over the final five minutes. The Hoyas scored eight of the game's next nine points and led by eight with 1:52 remaining.
Robinson went 5-for-9 from three-point range and scored 17 points in 18 minutes off the bench. Crockett finished with 13 points while Billy Garrett Jr. totaled eight points and seven assists.
Georgetown was led by 19 points from D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera and a 15-point, 11-rebound double-double from Smith.
DePaul returns to Allstate Arena for the final two home games of the regular season. The Blue Demons host Creighton on Tuesday night and Butler on Saturday afternoon. Both games can be seen on FOX Sports 1 and hears on 670 The Score.
