
Blue Demons Drop Match to Tulane

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The DePaul men's tennis team lost its first match of the year, a 6-1 decision to No. 53 Tulane, on Friday afternoon in New Orleans.
The Blue Demons fell to 5-1 with the loss, while Tulane improved to 6-1.
After losing the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches, the Blue Demons found themselves in a 1-0 hole before singles play.
All singles matches were decided in two sets; freshman Alex Galoustian recorded DePaul's lone win, thanks to a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Chi-San Jao in the No. 5 match. Galoustian is now 6-0 in dual singles matches this spring, with five of his six wins coming in the No. 5 slot.
Kyle Johnson lost his first match of the season to Constantin Schmitz in the No. 4 spot (6-2, 7-6 (2)) and Jan-Willem Feilzer dropped a tightly contested 7-5, 7-5 match to Ian Van Cott at No. 6 singles. Sten Leusink, Nathan de Veer and David Vieyra lost in the No. 1-3 spots, respectively.
The Blue Demons will look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon with a 1 p.m. match in New Orleans against Georgia State.
