
DePaul Loses 4-3 Battle to Georgia State

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The DePaul men's tennis team lost a 4-3 match to Georgia State on Saturday afternoon to wrap up its two-day stay in New Orleans, La.
The Blue Demons fall to 5-2 overall with the loss, while Georgia State improves to 2-4.
DePaul dropped the match despite leading 1-0 after the completion of doubles play. In the No. 1 match, David Vieyra and Jan-Willem Feilzer defeated Zack Kennedy and Sofiane Chevallier, 6-2. Alex Galoustian and Nathan de Veer clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 triumph over Sebastian Acuna and Valentin Horvat.
In singles play, Georgia State was able to take a 2-1 advantage with wins in the No. 4 and No. 2 matches. But the Blue Demons tied the match at two after Feilzer defeated Horvat, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 6 singles. Then, with his team trailing 3-2, Galoustian picked up a critical 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, victory over Chevallier in the No. 5 spot, resulting in a match-deciding No. 3 singles contest between Vieyra and Andrei Andrukhou.
Vierya jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the match thanks to a 6-2 win in the first set. But Andrukhou tied things up with a 6-4 victory in the second set. In the decisive third, Andrukhou outlasted Vieyra, 7-5, to clinch the match for the Panthers.
The Blue Demons will look to get back on the winning track with a Feb. 13 match against No. 51 Purdue in Chicago.
