
Men's Tennis Picks Up Two Wins Saturday in Chicago

CHICAGO -- The DePaul men's tennis team picked up two victories on Saturday afternoon in Chicago, sweeping its doubleheader with visiting Toledo and Lewis at Lakeshore Sport and Fitness.
With the two wins, DePaul improved to 10-6 overall.
DePaul took care of Toledo, 5-2, to get the day started. In doubles play, Kyle Johnson and Sten Leusink (No. 2) knocked off Garrett Cona and Mark Singnil, 7-6 (3), and Nathan de Veer teamed up with Alex Galoustian at No. 3 doubles to beat Roberto Meza and Nicky Wong, 6-2.
The Blue Demons then took 4-of-6 singles matches to secure their ninth win of the season. Leusink knocked off Signil at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 1-6, 6-1, and Johnson defeated Omar Espinosa, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 4 singles. In the No. 5 match, Galoustian won a 6-3, 6-1 match over Meza and Jan-Willem Feilzer defeated Stephen Miller at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 7-6 (3).
In the nightcap, DePaul had no troubles with Lewis, defeated the visiting Flyers in convincing fashion, 7-0. The Blue Demons won all three doubles matches, beginning with Johnson and Leusink's 7-6 (5) win over Armand Levandi and Erik Aunapuu at No. 1 doubles. In the No. 2 match, Feilzer and Max Renke topped Andre Norasith and MateSrdanovic, 6-3, and de Veer and Tim Corwin cruised past Chris Jastrab and Alan Fijalkowski, 6-1, at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Leusink won a 7-6 (5), 6-4, match over Levandi in the No. 1 match and de Veer topped Aunapuu, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 2 singles. In the No. 3 position, Johnson defeated Srdanovic, 7-6 (3), 1-6, 6-3, and Feilzer won a 7-5, 6-3 battle over Andre Norasith in the No. 4 slot. Tim Corwin beat Jastrab, 6-1, 6-2 (No. 5) and Renke beat Fijalkowski, 6-1, 6-1 (No. 6), to cap the day.
The Blue Demons next take the court next weekend at the MTSU Shootout in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
