
Men's Tennis Wins Tournament Finale

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- The DePaul men's tennis team salvaged its weekendfinale at the H-E-B Tournament of Champions, defeating New Mexico State, 4-3, on Saturday morning in Corpus Christi, Texas.
With the win, the Blue Demons improve to 8-6 while New Mexico State falls to 2-8.
DePaul took care of business in the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to begin the day leading 1-0. Jan-Willem Feilzer and Max Renke defeated Germain Degardin and Charles Baron, 6-2, in the No. 2 slot while Alex Galoustian and Nathan de Veer beat Christopher Goncalves and Thomas Douglas by the same score.
In singles action, DePaul registered wins in the No. 1, 2 and 4 positions. Sten Leusink topped Strahinja Trecakov, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1 singles and de Veer defeated Paul Denele, 7-5, 6-3, in the No. 2 match. At No. 4 singles, Galoustian downed Liam Goldberg, 7-6, 6-1.
The victory snapped DePaul's eight-match losing streak at the H-E-B Tournament. The Blue Demons will next be in action on March 21 in a home doubleheader against Toledo (2:15 p.m.) and Lewis (6:15 p.m.).
