TEMPE, Ariz. -- The DePaul track and field team concluded its busy weekend by finishing up both the Sun Angel Classic and Chicagoland Championships on Saturday.
The meets marked DePaul's third and fourth of the outdoor season.
At the Chicagoland Championships in Glen Ellyn, Ill., Alex Campanella logged a fifth place finish (3:59.95) in the 1,500-meter run and the Blue Demons finished third in the men's 4x400-meter relay. Jeremy Lozano took fourth (1:56.70) in the 800.
In Tempe, Ariz., at the Sun Angel Classic, Matt Babicz won the shot put premiere competition with a best throw of 19.12 meters and Jackie Kasal took the women's 800 with a time of 2:09.32. Bailey Dell won the javelin open event with a best throw of 45.49 meters.
"The weather was great and the performances were good," said head coach Dave Dopek. "We are still building toward the end of the year. I am by no means satisfied with the team's performance as a whole, but I am confident that we will continue to move in the right direction."
Next up for DePaul is the Illinois Twilight on April 18.
