
DePaul Drops Road Game at #7/8 Xavier

CINCINNATI, Ohio - A 14-point run between the end of the first half and start of the second half led No. 7/8 Xavier over DePaul, 84-64, on Tuesday night. Myke Henry scored 16 points to lead the Blue Demons.
The first half saw the two teams combine for 14 three-pointers with each side draining seven trifectas. Xavier (15-1, 3-1 BIG EAST) led by 10 early in the game before an Eli Cain three-pointer pulled the Blue Demons to within two at 18-16 midway through the half.
Xavier answered and scored the game's next 10 points for a 12-point advantage. Once again, DePaul (6-11, 0-5 BIG EAST) came back with a three-pointer by R.J. Curington making the deficit just three points with 1:40 left until halftime.
The first half ended with a 7-0 run to give the Musketeers a 41-31 lead. Xavier scored the first seven points of the second half to make the score 48-31 just over 90 seconds into the second frame.
DePaul would only get as close as 14 points in the second half and Xavier finished the evening with a final score of 84-64.
Henry added a team-high eight rebounds to go along with his 16 points while Curington finished with 11. Trevon Bluiett led four Xavier players in double-figures with 24 points.
DePaul returns to Allstate Arena on Sunday afternoon for a game against Creighton. Start time is Noon in Rosemont and the game can be seen on FS1 and heard on WYLL 1160 AM.
POSTGAME NOTES: Billy Garrett Jr. (1,016 points) moved into 47th place on DePaul's all-time scoring chart... the Blue Demons were outrebounded for the first time in BIG EAST play... Myke Henry posted his 39th career game in double-figures (36th at DePaul)... R.J. Curington scored in double-figures for the second time this season... DePaul leads the series, 9-7... Xavier has won the last two meetings... the two teams meet again on Jan. 30 at Allstate Arena.
