
Men's Tennis Drop Contest to UT Arlington

ARLINGTON, Texas - The DePaul men's tennis team opened the weekend's action with a 6-1 road loss to UT Arlington Saturday afternoon. With the result, the Blue Demons fall to 2-3 overall in dual season. The Mavericks improved their record to 2-3.
Sten Leusink earned the only DePaul victory of the day when he took down Johnathan Gonzalez at No. 1 singles. Leusink came back after losing the first set 6-4 and defeated the top Maverick by winning set two, 6-4, and the tiebreaker, 10-7.
Tim Corwin drove Pablo Colvee to the other tiebreaker on the day, but could not pull out the victory at court No. 6. The DePaul junior won the first set by a dominating 6-1 score, but could not seal the win.
In doubles action, the closest match of the day came at court No. 1 with Alex Galoustian and Nathan de Veer taking on Carlos Arbiza and Colvee. The two sides battled back and forth to a score of 6-6 before the UTA duo secured the final point.
The Blue Demons have a chance to bounce back against SMU on Sunday, Jan. 31. The match is scheduled to begin at noon CT in Dallas.
