CHICAGO ââ'¬" After a road split this past weekend, DePaul volleyball's Haley Bueser was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her performances on the back line, announced Monday by the conference office.
Bueser led the Blue Demon back line on the weekend with 4.14 digs per set, a boost in the category compared to her season average of 2.49. She helped DePaul to a 1-1 road record at Georgetown and Villanova with her 29 digs. Bueser added five assists and a kill to her weekend.
"I am so proud of Haley and excited for her to be a part of the Honor Roll this week," said head coach Nadia Edwards. "Since the beginning of the conference season, Haley has increased her role on this team and has kept us in a lot of matches defensively. She has helped to neutralize a lot of key attackers on our opponents' side and has been consistent in doing so."
The junior recorded a match-high 17 digs in the four-set win over Georgetown to open the weekend. In the match at Villanova, Bueser tied for the team lead in the match with 12 digs.
"This past weekend she helped us come back in the Georgetown match by scoring runs from the serving line, solid passing and outstanding defense," stated Edwards. "She also kept us in many rallies during the Villanova match. This is definitely a well-deserved recognition for Haley!"
DePaul and Bueser prepare to travel to Marquette for their lone match of the week on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. CT. The match between the Blue Demons and Golden Eagles can be streamed live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
