Volleyball Travels to Marquette for Weekend Match

CHICAGO - The DePaul volleyball team returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 5 to take on Marquette in the lone match this weekend for both teams. Fans can catch the match between the Blue Demons and Golden Eagles on the BIG EAST Digital Network at 6 p.m. CT.
The Blue Demons have had two other matches on the BIG EAST Digital Network this season. DePaul is 2-0 in those matches with wins over Providence and Georgetown.
Haley Bueser helped the Blue Demons earn a 1-1 road split last weekend and claimed a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Bueser led the Blue Demon back line on the weekend with 4.14 digs per set, a boost in the category compared to her season average of 2.49.
Myah Reed is the first Blue Demon to 150 kills in BIG EAST play. The junior carries a 2.94 kills per set average and over 350 attacks, while adding 20 blocks.

Last Time vs. Marquette
A tight match between DePaul and Marquette Saturday, Oct. 15 at McGrath-Phillips Arena went to five sets and fell in favor of the Golden Eagles, 3-2 (23-25, 16-25, 27-25, 25-22, 15-11). Colleen Smith closed the night with 54 assists, 15 digs and five service aces. The senior setter earned her 12th double-double of the year. Brittany Maxwell finished with a team-high 20 kills and four service aces. The sophomore also added four total blocks.
Scouting The Golden Eagles
Marquette is 10-3 in the BIG EAST standings and sits second behind Creighton. The Golden Eagles are 20-5 on the year and 8-2 at home. Marquette is first in the conference for opponent hitting percentage at .173 and digs with 16.46 digs per set. Taylor Louis is the driving force behind Marquette's attack with 4.38 kills per set (second in the BIG EAST). Louis is the only Marquette student-athlete in the top-25 kills leaders for the BIG EAST. Lauren Houg leads the back line for the Golden Eagles with 4.75 digs per set and ranks second in the conference in that category. At the net, Jenna Rosenthal averages 1.30 blocks per set and is one of only three student-athletes in the BIG EAST to secure 100-plus blocks.
