NEW YORK ââ'¬" DePaul's strong finish in the BIG EAST playoff race paid dividends on Saturday when the conference announced its All-BIG EAST Team.
Twenty-four hours before the Blue Demons face Villanova in a first-round playoff match, Simon Megally was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team and Max de Bruijne was selected to the All-BIG EAST Freshman Team.
Megally becomes the first Blue Demon to earn first-team status since Antonio Aguilar accomplished the feat in 2012.
Talented defender de Bruijne follows up teammates Jake Scheper (2015) and Hans Wustling (2014) in a recent trend of DePaul players being singled out for the All-Freshman Team.
Megally leads DePaul with 19 points on seven goals and five assists. The seven goals are tied with Erik Rodriguez for the team lead and the five assists are tied with Wustling.
