CHICAGO - DePaul men's soccer had good reason to celebrate on Tuesday when the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) named Simon Megally to its All-Great Lakes Region Team.
The senior midfielder was a second-team selection as the powerful BIG EAST Conference dominated with 12 players being honored on the first and second teams.
Megally led the Blue Demons to a 9-7-3 record this season and a berth in the BIG EAST Championship where DePaul battled host Villanova to a scoreless tie before bowing out of the postseason after a shootout.
In his final season, Megally led the team in points with 19 and in shots on goal with 21. He tied Erik Rodriguez for the team lead in goals with seven and tied Hans Wustling for the most assists with five.
For his four-year career at DePaul, Megally finished up with 49 points which ranks him No. 9 all-time, four points behind 2013 graduate Antonio Aguilar.
Last month, Megally was honored as a first-team selection on the All-BIG EAST Team.
