ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- The DePaul men's tennis team fell 7-0 to No. 53 Utah Saturday afternoon in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
DePaul (3-8) returns to Lincoln Park with an 0-2 weekend record after dropping its match to New Mexico on Friday.
The Utes (12-2) clinched the win after falling to New Mexico 7-0 the day before.
In doubles action, the No. 3 tandem of Sten Leusink and Nathan de Veer defeated Johan Jonhagen and David Micevski 6-3 for DePaul's lone victory of the day. At No. 1, Paul John and Conor O'Meara fell to Matt Cowley and Dan Little 7-5 as Jan-Willem Feilzer and Alex Galoustian dropped at No. 2 to Jamey Swiggart and Parker McGuiness 7-6 (4).
Utah finished the match with a clean sweep in singles action. Leusink fell to Cowley at No. 1 6-4, 6-4, Galoustian at No. 2 to Micevski 6-1, 6-1, as John lost to Little at No. 3 6-3, 6-4. Rounding out singles, Egbert Weverink defeated de Veer at No. 4 6-3, 7-5, Kyle Johnson lost to McGuiness 6-0, 6-3 as Feilzer dropped to Jonhagen 6-3, 6-2.
Up next, the Blue Demons head to Texas for the HEB Invitational in Corpus Christi, Texas March 4-5.
