DePaul Falls on Road to Creighton

OMAHA, Neb. - DePaul started slow at Creighton and couldn't overcome the early deficit in an 88-66 loss Saturday. Myke Henry led the Blue Demons with 22 points and eight rebounds.
The Blue Demons committed four turnovers in their first six possessions and trailed 7-2. DePaul came back and an Erten Gazi three-pointer moved the Blue Demons to within a point at 10-9.
A jumper by Myke Henry made the score 21-17, but Creighton opened up the game with a 12-0 run and led 33-17 with 3:35 left in the first half. Cole Huff led the way for the Bluejays and he ended the half with a three-pointer from the corner to give Creighton a 43-27 lead at intermission. Huff went 7-for-7 from the field for 18 first-half points.
Darrick Wood and Eli Cain combined for 10 of DePaul's 12 points to start the second half as the Blue Demons moved to within 10 just six minutes into the period.
Creighton (15-9, 6-5 BIG EAST) responded by scoring 20 of the game's next 29 points and took a 69-48 lead with just under eight minutes left on the clock.
Wood and Cain each scored 12 points while the Creighton totaled 43 rebounds to 25 for the Blue Demons. Huff led all scorers with 28 points.
DePaul (8-15, 2-9 BIG EAST) returns to Allstate Arena on Tuesday night for a 7:30 p.m. game against Villanova. The game can be seen on FS1 and heard on WSCR 670 AM.
POSTGAME NOTES: Erten Gazi's first-half three extended DePaul's streak to 699 consecutive game with a three-pointer... Myke Henry recorded back-to-back to 20-point games for the first time in his career... he had 27 points against Providence on Tuesday... DePaul leads the series, 16-14... Creighton has won four straight meetings and sweep the season series... the Bluejays posted a 91-80 win at Allstate Arena on Jan. 17.
