CHICAGO - It is a new year for DePaul track & field as it continues its indoor season with the Illini Classic on Saturday, Jan. 14. The tentative schedule of events has action starting at 10 a.m. CT with the women's weight throw and shot put.
DePaul is one of 10 schools set for competition. The Blue Demons see fellow BIG EAST school Butler for the first time this season along with Eastern Illinois, Saint Louis, Notre Dame, Bradley, Northern Illinois, Tennessee Tech, Southern Illinois and Western Michigan.
Saturday marks the first time Trevor Kintyhtt and Jade Nolan compete after winning the first BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week honors of the season. Kintyhtt is seventh in the nation for the men's weight throw with a mark of 20.17 meters. He is scheduled to throw in the shot put and weight throw on Saturday.
Nolan is set to compete in the women's long jump along with teammate Arlene Sisson. Nolan is first in the BIG EAST for the event with a jump of 5.72 meters.
The Blue Demons lead the BIG EAST in seven different events after just one meet this season. Kyle Hedge is tops for the men's shot put with a toss of 16.28 meters. Hedge joins Kintyhtt in the shot put and weight throw for the weekend.
The hurdling duo of Ariel Davis and Alexia Harvey remain first and second, respectively, in the BIG EAST for the women's 60m hurdles. Davis notched a time of 8.69 at the Blue & Gold Invitational back on Dec. 2. Harvey is right behind with a time of 8.88. Davis and Harvey are two of four Blue Demons to race in the 60m hurdles on Saturday.
