
Blue Demons Fall in Three Sets to Butler

CHICAGO - The DePaul volleyball team fell to Butler, 3-0 (18-25, 18-25, 22-25), on Friday night at McGrath-Phillips Arena. With the loss, the Blue Demons drop to 8-14 overall (2-8 BIG EAST).
The Bulldogs jumped ahead 4-0 early in the first set en route to a 25-18 win. Brittany Maxwell led the host with five kills in the opener.
Butler took an 8-5 lead early in the second set, prompting a Blue Demon timeout. Out of the stoppage, the Bulldogs outscored DePaul 17-13 the rest of the way to win the second set 25-18. Maxwell added four kills in the set, tying her with Butler's Whitney Beck for a match-high nine kills through two sets.
After leading 13-10 early in the third set, the Bulldogs took a 17-16 lead late, prompting a DePaul timeout. The Bulldogs would hold on to win the final set 25-22 to take the match three sets to none.
Maxwell finished the night tied with two Butler Bulldogs for the most kills with 11 and Myah Reed had 10. Kelsey Horvath added a team-high 24 assists while Haley Bueser chipped in with 12 digs.
The Blue Demons return to action Saturday as they host Xavier at McGrath-Phillips arena at 6 p.m.
