Wilhelms Named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team

NEW YORK - With the 2017 BIG EAST Men's Soccer Championship tournament kicking off at multiple campus sites starting Saturday, the Conference announced its annual awards on Friday, tabbing DePaul's Istvan Wilhelms as an All-Freshman Team selection.
Wilhelms recorded 12 points during his freshman campaign, tallying four goals and four assists on the season. In BIG EAST play, Wilhelms posted three points, scoring a goal against Marquette on Nov. 1 while dishing out an assist against Villanova on Sept. 30.
During the 2017 season, Wilhelms was honored by the BIG EAST on two occasions, being named the Freshman of the Week on Aug. 28 while receiving Weekly Honor Roll recognition on Sept. 4.
All-BIG EAST Teams and major awards are voted on by the league's head coaches, who are not permitted to vote for their own players. All-BIG EAST First and Second Teams are comprised of three forwards, three midfielders, three defenders, one goalkeeper and one at-large selection. The BIG EAST All-Freshman Team recognizes the top-11 freshman vote earners.
