
DePaul Delivers 121-65 Win In Exhibition Game

CHICAGO - From the opening tip it was all DePaul as the Blue Demons defeated IU Northwest in exhibition play with a decisive 121-65 win. Seven players scored in double-figures led by 22 points from Max Strus.
Strus led all scorers with 22 points while Eli Cain added 13 and Marin Maric scored 12. Justin Roberts also finished with 12 points followed by Brandon Cyrus with 11 and Austin Grandstaff and Devin Gage scored 10 points each.
The Blue Demons jumped ahead 9-3 early prompting an IU Northwest timeout at the 15:33 minute mark. Strus led the charge for the host, opening the scoring with a reverse alley-oop and then adding two more points on a sledge hammer right-handed dunk.
As the half progressed DePaul took over, getting to the rim at will the Blue Demons opened up a 30-point lead, 41-11, with 5:12 to go before the break.
Strus, 13 points, and Cain, nine points, led the Blue Demons in scoring in the opening half.
DePaul grew its lead in the second half, holding a substantial advantage until the final buzzer.
For IU Northwest, Antonio Allison recorded 11 points to lead the Redhawks.
DePaul opens the 2017-18 season on Saturday, Nov. 11 against Notre Dame. Start time at Wintrust Arena is scheduled for 3 p.m. on FS1.
