CHICAGO - DePaul junior guard Max Strus was named to this week's BIG EAST Honor Roll after averaging 23.5 points per game in two games last week. It is the first weekly honor for a DePaul player this season.
In addition to averaging 23.5 points per game, Strus shot .552 (16-29) from the field and .444 (8-18) from three-point range in games against Alabama A&M and Northwestern. He opened the week with 14 points and three rebounds in 27 minutes against Alabama A&M before putting together a 33-point effort against Northwestern on Saturday.
Strus scored a career-high 33 points with three rebounds and two steals against Northwestern. He went 11-for-19 from the field that included a 6-of-12 effort from three-point range. The six three's also matched a career best and is tied for eighth on DePaul's single-game three-point field goal list.
Strus totaled 20 of DePaul's 27 points in the second half on Saturday and the 33 points were the most by a DePaul player since Brandon Young scored 35 at Connecticut on Jan. 8, 2013.
For the season, Strus has scored in double-figures in 10 of 11 games and scored at least 20 points in four of the last six contests.
DePaul plays its final non-conference game of the regular season on Thursday night against Miami (Ohio). The Blue Demons and RedHawks are scheduled for an 8 p.m. start at Wintrust Arena. For ticket information, go to www.depaulbluedemons.com/tickets or call (773) 325-7526.
