Softball Falls to #11/11 Louisiana

LAFAYETTE, La. - The DePaul softball team dropped its second game of the day at the 31st Annual Louisiana Classics to #11/11 Louisiana on Friday, 9-1. DePaul (0-2) finished with a run, two hits and an error. #11/11 Louisiana (1-0) had nine runs, nine hits and an error.
The Blue Demons' junior transfer pitcher Kayla Landwehrmier suffered the loss in her DePaul debut.
Alex Stewart got the win for the Ragin' Cajuns.
Sabrina Kuchta recorded a double in the defeat while Erin Andris notched DePaul's other hit.
Louisiana scored first in the top of the second. With Kendall Smith on base, Beth Ashley hit two-run homer to center field.
The Ragin' Cajuns would score again in the top of the third to take a 3-0 lead.
Krista Dalgarn replaced Landwehrmier in the circle in the fifth, holding Louisiana without a hit for the inning.
DePaul recorded its lone run in the bottom of the fifth. With Erin Andris on first, Kuchta doubled to center. Andris advanced to third off the hit and reached home on a Louisiana throwing error to make the score 3-1.
Louisiana tacked on six more runs in the top of the sixth for a final score of 9-1.
Landwehrmier finished the game with a strikeout and two walks in four innings pitched.
Dalgarn recorded a strikeout, six walks and six runs over the final two innings.
The Blue Demons return to action on Saturday at Lamson Park to face Iowa State at 9 a.m. and #11/11 Louisiana again at 2 p.m. CT. Live stats will be available for both games. DePaul's game against the Ragin' Cajuns will also include video.
