Garrett Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

CHICAGO - DePaul senior Billy Garrett Jr. was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll after leading the Blue Demons to a 1-1 week against Georgetown and Seton Hall. Garrett knocked down the game-winning free throws at Georgetown and led a furious second-half comeback that came up just short against Seton Hall.
The Chicago native averaged 20.5 points, 5.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds in the two games. He shot .500 (12-24) from the field overall and .429 (3-7) from three-point range.
On Wednesday at Georgetown, Garrett drained two free throws with :00.2 left in 67-65 win at Georgetown on Wednesday. He finished game with 15 points, four assists and three rebounds.
On Saturday, the senior matched his career high with 26 points against Seton Hall. He added six assists and four rebounds and led DePaul's comeback from 20 points down in second half by making three-pointer with just over 20 seconds left to bring DePaul to within a point of the Pirates.
This is the second weekly honor for Garrett this season. He was named to the weekly honor roll twice as a junior and once as a sophomore. He was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week five times as a freshman before earning the BIG EAST Rookie of the Year award.
The BIG EAST Player of the Week was Butler's Kelan Martin and the league's Freshman of the Week was Sharmorie Ponds from St. John's. Garrett was joined on the weekly honor roll by Butler's Kamar Baldwin, Rodney Bullock of Providence, Bashir Ahmed from St. John's and Seton Hall's Angel Delgado.
Garrett and the Blue Demons return to action Tuesday night at Providence in their final road game of the regular season. The last home game of the season and at Allstate Arena is this Saturday against Xavier.
