Blue Demons Fall at Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - DePaul dropped a 73-64 decision Tuesday night at Providence in the final road game of the regular season. Brandon Cyrus and Devin Gage each scored 12 points to lead the Blue Demons.
After trailing by as many as 16 points in the first half, the Blue Demons cut the deficit to seven on back-to-back three-pointers by Chris Harrison-Docks seven minutes after halftime. Harrison-Docks finished with eight points off the bench.
Providence (19-11, 9-8 BIG EAST) wouldn't let DePaul get any closer and stretched its lead to 18 at 58-40 forcing the Blue Demons to call a time out with 7:43 left in the game. Coming out of the break Gage scored on a driving layup to as the Blue Demons attempted to make another run and close the gap.
DePaul (9-21, 2-15 BIG EAST) pulled to within 13 with just under four minutes left, but could get no closer until late in the game for the 73-64 final score.
Billy Garrett Jr. added 11 points and six assists while Cyrus added three rebounds and two steals to his 12 points.
The Friars put four in double-figures and were led by 14 points each from Emmitt Holt and Kyron Cartwright.
DePaul plays its final game of the regular season on Saturday afternoon against Xavier. Start time in Rosemont is scheduled for 1 p.m. in the last game for DePaul at Allstate Arena.
