
Blue Demons Fall to No. 37 Notre Dame

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - No. 37 Notre Dame defeated the DePaul men's tennis team on Saturday evening 6-1 on the courts of Eck Tennis Pavilion.
DePaul's (10-6) lone point came courtesy of Alex Galoustian. The junior clinched the No. 2 singles point over Alex Lebedev 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. Galoustian now boasts a three-match win streak.
Notre Dame, the first ranked team the Blue Demons have faced this season, clinched the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Galoustian paired with Nathan de Veer to challenge No. 12 Josh Hagar and Eddy Covalschi at No. 1, but lost 6-1. Brendon Kempin and Jonathan Small defeated Tim Corwin and Boris Spanjaard 6-3 at No. 2
In singles action, Fran Tonejc battled Brendon Kempin at the No. 6 spot, but ultimately fell 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.
de Veer faced No. 33 Hagar at the top singles spot, but lost 6-1, 6-4.
Spanjaard fell to Guillermo Cabrera 6-0, 6-2, while Christopher Casati lost to Matt Gamble at No. 4 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 5, Small defeated Corwin 6-2, 7-5.
Up next, DePaul heads to Charleston, S.C. for three matches over the course of the Blue Demons spring break. DePaul is scheduled to take on the Citadel on Tuesday, March 21 at noon, South Carolina State on Wednesday, March 22 at 9 a.m. and the College of Charleston on Thursday, March 23 at 3 p.m. CT.
