Softball Shuts Out Seton Hall in Game Two

CHICAGO - DePaul softball evened its weekend series against Seton Hall with a 4-0 victory in game two of the doubleheader on Saturday, April 1 at Cacciatore Stadium.
DePaul's (15-14, 2-2 BIG EAST) Kennedy Garcia led the way in the circle. She allowed just one hit in her seventh victory of the season. She struck out a season-high five batters in the 25 she faced.
Megan Leyva and Alysia Rodriguez each recorded two hits while Leyva added a run. The Blue Demons outhit the Pirates (15-13-1, 2-3 BIG EAST) 8-1.
Madison Strunk suffered the loss in the circle for Seton Hall.
After a scoreless three innings, DePaul got on board in the bottom of the fourth with two runs. With one out, Nicole Pihl doubled to center. Ana Greik replaced her on base and scored off a double from Leyva. Leyva added the second run off a RBI double from Rodriguez to left field.
The Blue Demons' final two runs were scored in the bottom of the fifth. After Haydn Christensen struck out, Erin Andris notched her first triple to center field. Micah Fitzgerald followed with a RBI single to score Andris and force a pitching change for the Pirates. Jessica Cothern notched a single off new pitcher Chrisa Head. She advanced to second off a fielder's choice and then scored off another Leyva double.
Seton Hall's lone hit came in the top of the sixth after leadoff hitter Valerie Suto singled to left field.
