NCAA West Regional Begins Thursday for Kintyhtt

CHICAGO - After taking home two BIG EAST championships and being named the Most Outstanding Field Athlete of the Meet two weekends ago, DePaul track & field senior Trevor Kintyhtt competes in two events at the 2017 NCAA West Regional Thursday, May 25 and Saturday, May 27 in Austin, Texas.
Kintyhtt's time in Austin begins on Thursday with the men's hammer throw at 3:30 p.m. CT. The senior comes into the weekend ranked 27th among declared student-athletes with a distance of 62.61 meters. Kintyhtt throws in the second of three flights. The leader in the hammer throw is Gleb Dudarev from Kansas at 74.20 meters.
On Saturday, Kintyhtt throws in the men's discus event at 1 p.m. CT and takes his spot in the first flight. The Akron, Ohio native sits in 38th for the event with his best distance of 53.86 meters. Mitchell Cooper of Kansas has the top regional mark of 63.96 meters.
For Kintyhtt to qualify for the NCAA Championship in Eugene, Ore., he must finish in the top 12 of either event. The NCAA Championship is set to take place between June 7 and June 10.
