DePaul Heads to Saint Louis Billiken Invitational

CHICAGO - The Blue Demons travel to their last bunch of non-conference matches this weekend. Competition opens with a matchup with invitational host, Saint Louis, at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sep. 15. Following day one, DePaul will play Louisiana Tech at 10 a.m. and then Little Rock at 4:30 p.m. The DePaul volleyball team and head coach Nadia Edwards hope to build off of the momentum from Tuesday's sweep against Loyola, 3-0. The Blue Demons stand at a 2-1 away record.
"Our goal for this weekend is to end preseason on a strong note and feel prepared going into conference next week. For the weekend, we will continue to challenge our group with process-based goals to help us focus on the level of play on our side and be consistent with our performance from start to finish," said Edwards.
Last Time vs. Saint Louis
The DePaul volleyball team dropped a four-set match, 1-3, to Saint Louis on October 29, 2004.
Scouting The Billikens
Saint Louis finished third with an 11-3 record in the A-10 regular season and 18-14 overall during the 2016 season. After adding three freshman, Saint Louis was picked third in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll. The Billikens are off to a 1-9 start to the 2017 season after winning their only match of the season to Western Illinois, 3-1, on Tuesday night.
Last Time vs. Louisiana Tech
In a five-set thriller, the Blue Demons lost to Louisiana Tech, 2-3 on September 12, 2003.
Scouting The Bulldogs
Louisiana Tech finished the 2016 season with a 13-17 overall record and did not qualify for the Conference USA Tournament. With six freshman, the Bulldogs started their season with a 4-6 overall record. In Louisiana Tech's latest appearance, the Bulldogs swept Jason State, 3-0, on Tuesday night.
Last Time vs. Little Rock
This is the first time the DePaul volleyball team will matchup against Little Rock.
Scouting The Trojans
Little Rock finished the 2016 season at 12-18 overall and 8-8 in the Sun Belt Conference. The Trojans were picked fourth in the Sun Belt Conference's West Division Preseason Poll for the 2017 season. With five new faces, Little Rock has managed a 3-6 overall record this season.
